1. Take the tutorial instead of wandering off
The opening places you in Temple Woods. Speak to the Wise Old Man and accept the tutorial. Quest markers appear on your compass, and the map helps you find the next teacher. This route is worth doing even if you have played other survival games, because it introduces Dragonwilds’ own crafting, magic and hunger systems.
2. Solve food, water and tools with Doric
Doric sends you to gather dirty water from marked ponds. Watch the food and water meters at the bottom left of the screen: low levels can reduce health and prevent recovery. Pick up Ash Logs and Stone while traveling. Those materials let you place a Crafting Table in build mode and make a Stone Club at the table.
Do not treat the dirty water as a finished drink. You can boil it at a campfire to obtain clean water during the cooking lesson. See Food, Water & First Tools for the exact opening sequence.
3. Learn to fight and cook with Vannaka
Vannaka introduces blocking, attacking and cooking. The tutorial asks you to fight rats by the abandoned windmill, collect their meat and cook it over a campfire. This is a controlled way to practise the combat controls before moving into more dangerous territory. Return to Vannaka with the cooked food to continue.
4. Add magic with Zanik
Zanik teaches the first rune and spell sequence. Mine Rune Essence, make the requested runes at a Rune Altar, then use the Spellbook and spell wheel to cast your first skill spell. After the three teachers have finished, the Wise Old Man directs you toward Bramblemead Village.
5. Build a small working base
Place a few useful stations before making a large house. Build mode shows required materials and a placement preview; a green preview means the selected item can be placed. Use Ghost Mode if you want to lay out pieces before collecting everything. Our first base guide explains the controls and structure rules without pretending there is one mandatory house design.
